Post-Valentine’s Day Fugue

They met at the intersection of Accident and Malice
in a corner store for lonely hearts.
He wanted something, someone he did not know,
while She shopped for her next mistake.

As their hands touched over a bouquet of regret
Their eyes didn’t quite meet.
Throwing caution to the wind, they exchanged numbers
and met up later for coffee.
