Nurture Your Delusions of Adequacy

Nurture your delusions of adequacy
be sure you are enough
Slam the lid on that black pit of snakes in your belly
the hissing, whispering ones.

Self doubt is for heroes
and you are no hero
You’re a mortal gal doing her best, yet she
Sometimes fails when she tries.

Be too busy to answer naysayers
Do not drink their poison
If you can’t do it, at least you’ll die trying
instead of killing your dream.

Success is another delusion
You faked it ’til you made it
The journey was everything, arriving is a distraction
Now you’re top of the pile.
