Rites of Diana, Revisited

Moon Behind the Trees, via morguefile

The moon is so far away these days

her face cold, distant, serene.

Where is my childhood companion?

The wild, beautiful giantess

whose light was full of electric, mysterious songs

her dance punctuated by impenetrable silence.

Ageless, eternal, untouchable.

She slips from me like quicksilver;

leaves me in earthbound mourning.

My clumsy ears and feet

strain to follow her tune.
