Currently I know three people who have parents with Alzheimer’s. This is not counting the people I know whose parents have already passed away after suffering with Alzheimer’s. Many of my friends are at the “sandwich” stage of life, caught between raising teens and caring for ever more fragile parents. Recently, my very talented writing buddy wrote a beautiful, heartbreaking poem about her mother. I encourage you to go read, even if you’re not at the sandwich stage of life.
